Justice Advocates
Statement on Racism
Adopted September 29, 2020
On June 13, 2021, IPC's Justice Advocates had their first meeting. The following points are highlights from the team's first year:

We shared educational moments with the Session in June, September, November, January, and February regarding antiracism and inclusivity.

We created a list of Women and Minority Vendors for the IPC committees/boards to use.

We advocated for a banner to promote IPC. (Coming soon: The plan is for it to be here for the Irvington Garden Tour.)

We have continued to have conversations with Ms. Campbell of School #57.

We are growing a partnership with Downey Avenue Christian Church, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, and Lourdes Catholic Church to work together to benefit our community.

In September, we partnered with the H&E committee to have a follow-up conversation in Christ’s Café following the viewing of the movie “Just Mercy”. We promoted the event at Clowes in which Bryan Stephenson, author of “Just Mercy” spoke.

In November, we partnered with Downey Avenue Christian Church in hosting a forum on "Housing".

We supported/sponsored the Christ Café classes, “What the Bible Really Says!”

In April, we held our first Community Read Event: “Nickel and Dimed” in partnership with the Irvington Public Library.

We helped to lead worship on Justice Advocacy Sunday.

In June, we supported our brothers and sisters via the Indy Pride Parade.

Currently, planning our next Community Read Event in August.

Increased our team size by 33%.
