Missions and Ministries
IPC members put their faith into action through a number of volunteer activites, including (but not limited to) those listed below:
Irvington Roots and Wings Child Care Ministry
In February 2019, the church opened a child care center in one of its apartments nearest the playground. This full time center welcomes up to 14 children ranging in age from 18 months to Pre-K children. For more information about this child care ministry, please email
Mexico Mission
For over 15 years, IPC has sent mission teams to Reynosa, Mexico to build a house for a family through the oversight of Faith Ministry (www.faithministry.org). Each year the church holds a Fish Fry during the Irvington Halloween Festival to raise money for this mission. Everyone is welcome to volunteer at the Fish Fry, and many have joined the mission trips over the years. Our volunteers in our Sewing Group recently provide 100 sun dresses for girls in Reynosa.
Westminster Neighborhood Services
At WNS, our volunteers work in the food pantry and soup kitchen, and serve on the Board of Directors. Before Christmas each year, large numbers of IPC members fill Christmas baskets at WNS. During the year collections are received at the church for food and clothing items. More information about WNS and more volunteer opportunities can be found here: www.westmin.org.
ICAN
IPC is a primary supporter of the Irvington Churches Advocacy Network, a ministry of the Irvington Ministerial Association. Volunteers are always needed to help at the Downey Avenue food pantry on Thursdays from 1-3 p.m.
School 57
IPC supports our nearby elementary school in a number of ways. Each Tuesday, 10-15 tutors meet at the school for 30 minutes of homework assistance. At the end of each summer the church collects large amounts of school supplies and delivers it to the school. The church also supports the music program of the school and when able, provides financial assistance to families in need.
IPC Garden
On the southeast corner of IPC property, six raised garden beds are planted each spring. During the summer and fall harvest, produce is passed on to the ICAN food pantry. Volunteers are welcome to join this effort to provide fresh vegetables to those in need.
