The ruling board of the church, formally called the Session, consists of 18 elders divided in three classes of six people. One class of elders is elected each year by the congregation for a three-year term. Elders are nominated and elected based on their activity level and commitment to the church, as well as their leadership skills.
The session meets once a month to discuss and address the ongoing mission and ministry of the church. Session has authority over financial and budgeting issues, church membership, staffing issues (with the exception of the pastors whose call to the church is authorized by the congregation), and generally most matters of the church. Each elder chairs or participates on a committee of the session, and while serving on session is expected to take a full leadership role in the church.
As in all matters of the church, the session is informed and abides by the rule of the Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

The Board of Deacons is the model of our caring ministry. They are charged with visiting all of our shut-ins and home bound, providing assistance for those in need, making sure that every member is contacted during the year, and lead all of the members in the ministry of Jesus Christ.

The Board of Trustees manages the property of IPC and serves as the legal entity in matters relation to the signing and certifying of legal documents. Their task is also to maintain and preserve all of the physical property of the church, both our building and our grounds.
